Name: Gwenyth (The Ravage)
Gender: Female
Age: 21 years
Height: 5’ 8”
Race: Human/mutant hybrid (Asian descent)
Skills: Hunting/tracking and stealth. While with her “tribe” she learned how to re-manufacture ammunition for her rifle, a time-consuming process that uses the very limited number of empty shell casings she has available. She is also a skilled bow-hunter, making arrows out of whatever materials she can find.
Abilities: A primal instinct for preservation and survival; while hunting and tracking her prey this takes over, and she behaves more like a feral animal than a human being. The selective breeding process practiced by her ancestors grants her unusually acute sensory perception and physical prowess.
Items/Possessions: A sophisticated (yet very old) single-shot military rifle with five rounds of ammunition, a hand-made shortbow, quiver and bracer, hunting knife and a small waist-pack for carrying supplies.
Appearance: Gwenyth has an athletic build, but frequently suffers from malnutrition due to scarcity of food. She has long, black hair, a dark complexion and a hidden scar on her side from an unlucky fight with a wild boar. The genetic mutation is marked by her eyes: left iris is brown, right is yellow. Her clothes and cape are made of worn, coarse-grain brown leather; on her neck is a permanent band made of the same material with a metal tag engraved with her name and former “owner”. She usually wears the rifle, bow and quiver strapped to her back and a bracer on her right arm.
Background: As national borders disappeared in the years following the End, widespread anarchy at last descended upon the Earth. The fragile associations of small towns and villages vanished in the face of militant bands of nomads that roamed the continents in search of food and shelter, and even the most basic modern social constructs began to fall away. One such band, perhaps the most fierce of all, descended from a tight-knit group of military personnel that sought refuge in the deserted forestlands during the heated wars that engulfed nations at the End of Days. Among this mixed group of soldiers, civilians, commanders and clerks were several of the great minds of military technology, and it was these minds that were exercised in the effort to survive.
As the ranks of this original group diminished and resources grew thin, the aforementioned technicians elected to revert to some of their past projects for solutions to their growing problems, most importantly food and the question of their future. One avenue was the creation of a biologically-enhanced human that was better-suited to survive the worsening climate conditions that were sure to be present as time progressed. They succeeded, but without laboratories and familiar equipment - only though genetic manipulation and mutation of several volunteers who agreed to continue the new, "improved" line. As years passed, most of the original group members died out...but their hybrid creations continued. At one point a rival group competing for survival overtook these remaining hybrids, who were too few in number to resist. Seeing their usefulness, the conquerors enslaved the hybrids, subjecting them to captivity, forced labor and other tasks - notably hunting for food.
Over time, the children of the original hybrids lost the knowledge of their ancestors and their origins, and future generations were strictly controlled and bred by the nomads solely for the purpose of providing their masters with food and resources. It was from this new line of specialized hunters/producers that Gwenyth originated. Raised with copious amounts of careful attention and discipline, she provided for the nomads from an early age and was even well regarded within the tribe's circles...until the winter of her nineteenth year, when her hunting party encountered a heavy snowstorm. Like her ancestors before her, Gwenyth outlived her non-hybrid companions, and has since then wandered wherever she pleases, doing whatever necessary to survive.
